Moral Acts

Moral Acts

To Be Good Every Moral Act Must Have 3 Elements:

(nature of the action; intention foreseen; circumstances)

1. The act itself must be good.
2. The intention of the one doing it must be good.
3. The circumstances must be appropriate.

Immoral Acts

Considerations for moral acts that can make them immoral:

1. Ends can never justify the means.
2. A bad intention can make an otherwise good act bad (i.e. charity to give oneself an advantage).

Mortal Sin

Immoral acts can result in Mortal Sin:

Sin: An offense against reason, truth, and conscience. Failure of love for God and neighbor.

Mortal Sin: Sin that destroys charity in a man's heart and requires 3 conditions:

1. Grave matter (i.e. stealing, murder, adultery).
2. Full knowlege of what one is doing.
3. Full consent; a deliberate personal choice .
